Isher-Singh & Iknoor-Kaur's Lohri

Jan. 13th 2007 was Lohri. Back in Punjab - like most Punjabi festivals, Lohri is tied in with the farming, harvest times and seasons(weather). In January the one of the biggest crops in Punjab wheat(kanak) is sowed and starting to sprout. Jats(farmers) have some down time and not a lot needs to be done in the fields therefore the farm help is also free. If I remember correctly the sugarcane(gaane) harvest is usually in the mills by now also. With winter in full effect what better way to enjoy the weather then to setup a bonfire and warm yourselves up. How the peanuts and rariyan(candy) are tied up in all this I'm not too sure. But during Lohri, any special family moments that took place during the past year and due to the family being busy with work and all could not properly recognized are celebrated. Moments like new babies, weddings, new homes etc.

So the pics above are from Isher-Singh's and Iknoor-Kaur's Lohri, they were born on March 29, 2006. The whole celebrated the twins Lohri at Bombay Palace, enjoy the pics. (The family also celebrated Uddam-Singh's and Mehtab Kaur's Lohri, sorry :( no pics from earlier that day)

P.S. The whole Lohri story is my version and I think it sounds right.
